Because this has been a crap year for British sport. Surely her horse has more personality.

What a miserable bunch you lot are!
Zara Phillips has been a fantastic ambassador for Eventing, to hold the European and World titles at the same time, and at such a young age is an amazing achievement!
Eventing is a high-risk, low return sport. The death and injury rate for riders is far higher than, say, that of Formula 1 drivers, and they certainly don't earn as much money as footballers!
For all of those of you that say the horse does all the work, you have obviously never ridden a horse in your life and have never seen the size of the fences on a cross-country course.
Zara Phillips is not on the Civil List, and therefore does not get any money from the general public. She has worked hard and been rewarded for this, and I'd much rather the SP award went to her than some namby-pamby overpaid footballer or the like!

Worked hard? WORKED HARD??? She's never done a sodding stroke in her life!
She may not be on the civil list, but like Tara Palmer Tomkinson, Suzanne Constantine, & all the other "Twit" girls, she's got a whopping big trust fund from her filthy rich mummy & daddy - money c/o the Civil List & exploiting their workforces in their huge country estates in the first place - to ensure she will never have to want for anything in her puff, & so can enjoy a privileged life of indulging in her hobbies during the time the rest of us are toiling to indirectly fund it!
How many people do YOU know that can employ the services of a "fashion advisor" without a steady job to pay for it?
I don't care how talented/attractive/charming she is, she's still another parasite, and all the PR spin about her being a Royal Rebel don't fool this peasant for starters. Come back Cromwell & Robespierre, all is forgiven! Let the blood run BLUE!

they are all stunning of their chosen activities. As already spoke back she gained gold. It grow to be a shame they did'nt provide the female motorbike proprietor the comparable air time as many of the others, she gained the excursion de France. It grow to be a public vote. happy there have been no crammed up footballers, yet we dont have too many British gamers to any extent further. Theo did'nt look very inspired along with his award.

i assume she must have won something but who cares. I'm not even sure what that award is supposed to be for, is it for a great sporting achievement? (in which case Phil Taylor was long overdue to win), or is it for generally being in the public eye as a likeable sports personality? (zara phillips?!??). I wouldn't know her if she slapped me in the face and called me a rotter

the reason she won was the fact that all the nanby pamby big wigs at the beeb rigged the voting, a 13 time world champ never got a mention. and the jolly old equestran horses are the only sport the beeb have got left

There would have been cries of "Off with his head!" if anyone else had won.
I don't even know what sport she does - but let me guess - polo? equestrian? tiddlywinks?
