Basically you can see them anytime in the day..they will get up early to feed and continue throughout the day. If it gets too warm in the afternoon they may seek shade under a bush, or tree.They will roost as soon as it get dark, so you will not see them then, but the will be up bright and early again the next morning. Best bet is to get up early with them while they are most active.

Afternoon, because in the morning they're hiding somewhere sleeping, and they're doing the same at night. During the midday they are outside swimming in the most nearby body of water, looking for food, eating, or just walking around.

You should probably explain the question better though, because I'm not sure this is what you wanted to know. Was it?

I was always able to catch them in action around the early mornings in the lakes, out there in Florida!
