Braxton hicks are the tightening of your uterus.
It feels like the baby is balling up in your stomach, and it gets really hard! It usually lasts about 30-45 seconds at a time. Sometimes you can't tell unless you put your hand there, and other times you will be able to tell because they can be strong (and it feels like you are flexing your stomach, even though you aren't) It can also feel like the baby is just pushing really hard on your stomach, but all over!
Here is the actual definition:
Braxton Hicks' contractions, also known as false labor or practice contractions, occur during the second or third trimester of pregnancy. It is a tightening of the uterine muscles for one to two minutes and is thought to be an aid to the body in its preparation for birth. Not all expectant mothers have these contractions which can start as early as 20 weeks into the pregnancy. They are thought to be part of the process of effacement, the thinning and dilation of the cervix.
Good luck and congrats :)

Since your uterus is nothing but a muscle, Braxton Hicks feels like a tightening muscle. Its contracting, preparing for real contractions of labor. You will feel a tightening sensation. Remember if you get more than 5 a hour call your doctor. You can also drink a few cups of water and lay on your left side and see if they go away. Sometime you have Braxton Hicks because your body is dehydrated

When your pregnant you're going to be going via lots of one-of-a-kind aches and pains! The tightness within the backside of your stomach is extra likley simply your uterus tighting up! When having Braxton Hicks it feels extra like gasoline pains that simply wont finish and which might be inconsistant! You could recognize when you had been having Braxton Hicks given that extra then likley you could consider you had been in exertions! The tightness shouldnt be whatever to fear approximately, and when you do get Braxton Hicks someday quickly, its simply your uterus getting ready itself for exertions! Good Luck and simply submit your ft and check out to loosen up! Congrats incidentally!!!

Braxton hicks contractions can start any time from now. I did not feel braxton hicks contractions with either of my pregnancies so I can not tell you what they feel like from experience, but basically they feel like a mild contraction. You may feel a tightening of your belly with a cramp like pain and then it will ease.

Braxton Hicks are like strong cramps but they are irregular and don't get stronger over time. If they come regularly and get stronger and stronger, get to the hospital you're having a baby!

Braxton hicks are contractions that can sometimes be painful and sometimes not. Your belly will get really tight. Not everyone gets them. It's your body's way of getting ready to give birth.

They feel like contractions. If you get up and walk around and they go away - they are Braxton Hicks.
