TOTAL JOKE! Guys like Calzaghe and Hatton who push their bodies and mind to the limit must look upon this as the ultimate in betrayal. These guys have fan bases of hundreds of thousands and there is no way on this earth did she merit being in the top three! I'm the viewing public and would question the validity of this vote! The BBC! PATHETIC!

But Darren Clarke said that he wouldn't accept it because he thought that people would only vote for him in sympathy...I think that Joe Calzaghe should have won because he is a legend...but overall it has been a slow year for English sports in general so I guess Zara Phillips deserved it...

one its a bloody joke odviously the zombiefied general population decided to vote a royal as winner for what ,they need to wake up but for you i would say that darren clarke quality at golf won the ryder cup in his home country but its not enough and just because his wife died doesnt mean he should win it .also paul hunter the guy died ,does that mean he would deserve to win it? i think hed rather of won it for achieving big in snooker ,which he didnt really achieve in the sence that he never had a chance to ,i dont think the guy would want it because of the tragic surcumstances in which his life ended .
i would rather david walliams had won sports personality of the "year" than her ,it shows alot more discipline what he did than jumping around on a horse no .he wasnt even on the final list?.......odviously many people had done it before him but what a feat anyway none the less.

I agree - it must have been a fix. There is no chance that millions of 'normal' people would have voted for this impostor in a sport filled with pathetic rich girls with outrageously silly names like 'pippa'. Hang your head in shame BBC.

It's incredible that She is selected. A dearth of sportstars in the UK. This has been a big fix and I'd imagine an enormous embarassment to Zara.
Good luck to her in life......but she certainly isn't heroic. Let her repeat the feat again and we may all pay attention. The fact remains that she has the resources to shine in a competition requiring buckets of cash. There is limited competition therefore.

Dumb voters only chose her because her horsey mother won it 30 years ago.
What is it with this country and royals?
I was at an event yesterday with some minor royal and the bowing and scraping that went on around her made me sick.
Orf with their heads!

Hmmm, except the 'fix' was based on a public vote.
