My nephew was held since he was born, he's 6 weeks old and he cries when u put him down so long, but on top of that, you can't just sit down, you have to walk while carrying him too or he'll cry.

A baby should be held lots. He just spent nine months in the womb, as close as he could get to his mum, and the outside world is a strange new p[lace so he finds comfort in being held close to your chest where he can hear the rythm of your heartbeat, and feel the gentle motion of you moving about when you are walking around. Babies need love and affection and lots of human contact. If this is a problem and stopping mum from getting things done then why not by them a baby sling for christmas. This way mum will be able to hold baby close and have her arms free for doing things.

Birth is a traumatic experience...baby is going from the warm comfort of being held in your womb to strange new places.

Remember that when a baby is born, he has never been alone or put down ever. That's a huge adjustment.

Also, YOU CANNOT SPOIL A NEWBORN.

Get a sling and carry him around.

Have you tried those vibrating chairs or things that mimic being held by a human? We have babies in the daycare I used to work at that are like that but they are older so old enough so start letting them cry it out. Just make sure he is fed, not gassy and clean. Remember that crying is not always a sign that something is wrong so it's okay to leave him alone to cry from time to time if you need a break. A set of twins that I took care of as a nanny were 2 months old and sometimes we had to just let them cry because you can ony do so many things at once. Just don't get stressed out..... we also used to use those baby bjorns that are like a baby sling when we needed to do something else but one of the babies would not stop crying.

Because they were in a soft, comfortable, warm, constantly moving environment... the womb. You cannot spoil a newborn by holding it too much. It is absolutely normal that he would want to be held all the time.

I agree, holding and slinging. He's far too young to be spoiled. Babies need that love and affection. It will help to create a better bond between parent and child as well.
