For everyone who said this was a bad idea, there's a scholarship if you make a dress out of duct tape and wear it to prom, so you're all wrong :-P *grumbles about people insulting duct tape's versatility* Anyway other than that, there's not much I know: I would have made myself a Duct tape Tuxedo if I had had the time (or the tape) to do so, but I didn't. Making an entire dress would be a lengthy process, but to win the scholarship you could tape over an already made dress or make your own. If its just duct tape day, and its in a few days, you don't have time to pull off making your own (unless MAYBE you pulled 3 consecutive all nighters AND worked while you ate etc.) so I'd suggest making one quick out of an old dress or making something simpler. Remember that If you want to go for that scholarship though, that you have to enter as a couple, so you need to take a picture with you and your date in the duct tape outfits.

Just use duct tape to form a dress like shape and cover the sticky side with another layer of duct tape. It looks really cool if you use many different colors.

At the Renaissance Faire this year I saw....somebody (couldn't tell if they were male or female) that had taken duct tape and just wrapped it around their body to make a belly shirt (I'm guessing) and a skirt. I would not want to be the one to take that off, but it just shows it can be done. I would suggest looking for other methods though.

Have you seen the Stuck at Prom promotion? Here are some other great links with ideas:

This Link:

Describes how to make the "Duct Tape Fabric"

This Link:

Has lots of ideas, too.

You may find that you only have time to make accessories, the full pieces of clothing are said to take up to 50 hours to make.

Good luck!

you could put duct tape over a dress you already have. that would be simple, or you could get a simple pattern or make one yourself, and the start making a big sheet of duct tape, tapin it to itself, two layers, one on front and one on back. fit it to your body, tape it up. then cut yourself out of it.
