I want my deposit back - but my landlord is giving me a hard time, what is considered normal wear and tear?

Nope- I lost my deposit several times. However you need to read the conditions of your lease before signing it to see what the conditions are. I have also had a landlord that changed my carpet after 2 years at my request. I had to help (private owner) but he realized that carpet gets ruined.
