i think it is great and should be welcomed by everyone, i honestly believe that when we read in the press about people from asia being offended, by say xmas decorations etc..im very sceptical ,in that i dont believe it one bit....its the hippy right-on do gooders stirring thingsup, instead of leaving things alone, and people to get along with each other....my friend is a practasing muslim from pakistan/uganda and his house has a decorated xmas tree(he beat me to getting mine up this year again lol) nice lights and buys his children and freinds presents,
also when i or anyone visits him,he always feeds us( now i know to go there hungry and so enjoy it)...good luck to our freinds of any creed or colour

I am Jewish and my family celebrate christmas. In synagogue we say prayers for the Queen and the royal famly. While not all Jews celebrate christmas, like sikhs we respect the legal system of the country we live in and don't try to establish our own state within a state like the radical islamic fanatics blighting our lovely country. If I didn't like this country I'd leave, just like my friend who emigrated to New Zealand with his family.
I think what I'm trying to say is, it when you go on holiday it is better to join in and enjoy the local culture than sit alone in a corner and be a miserable git! And by enjoying the local culture it doesn't mean you are betraying your heritage. As the say "When in Rome, do as the Romans do"

I think it is wonderful! Christmas is open to anyone of any background who wants to enjoy! Climb aboard! Let you "so called" friends know that you are an individual, you live in a place where most people celebrate, and as a good Englishperson, it is your DUTY to have a good time!

Merry Christmas to all!

good on you - Xmas originated from Christianity but even if you dont believe it the values of giving/sharing and friendship are universal. Christmas is the only time that society makes an effort with each other, we are friendly to strangers take pleasure in buying gifts for others that we think will mean something and in general enjoy each others company. this is the one time of the year that this happens and you shouldn't be excluded because of your own religion. what ever hap pend to the great christian values of individuality, unity and friendship

You’re celebrating a Roman pagan winter festival not the true birth of Jesus Christ. December was the Roman winter pagan festival dedicated to the Roman pagan god Saturn. After Christianity became the official religion of the Roman Empire, the early Church decided to celebrate the birth of Christ as the same month as Roman pagan winter festival to Saturn for simplicity sake. The Christmas tree came from Germanic tribes that worshiped the tree in the Nordic religion.
The true birth of Christ may have been on April 6BC when an astronomical even occurred. The planet Jupiter was eclipsed by the moon. This was also when the Three Magi’s from the Parthian Empire (Persia-rivals of the Roman Empire) set forth through the Levantine mountains and desert inhabited by road bandits and brigands to search for the coming of a Messiah in Canaan prophesized by their prophet Zoroaster. They wanted to give gifts to the child. King Nebuchadrezzar II exiled the original ancient Jews to Babylon and thus became part of that Persian prophecy of the coming of a Messiah.
Anyway, in conclusion, if you want to celebrate Christmas by all means go ahead. It's your freedom. Whatever floats your boat so long as you give presents to the little children.

I think it's great, so nice of people of other faiths to celebrate. I am not Jewish but my relatives in Israel are. When I went to stay with them, I joined in their celebration of Jewish New Year and had a great time. Just because I don't follow their faith doesn't mean I shouldn't join in!
Why not celebrate Christmas, good on you!! Hope you have a good one!!
