Work, yes.
Live, no. Not until it is firmly established. The moon is a very harsh environment; being there for too long, in the lower gravity, might injure your bones. Unless properly shielded, the solar radiations can prove dangerous for long term exposure (there is no Van Allen belt to protect you as on Earth). You cannot go out for a walk without a heavy space suit, you cannot sleep with the window open. All you air and water have to be reprocessed, or chemically extracted from the soil. And what about food
It is going to be a hard life, not a joyful one, at least at first.
But it has to be done, I grant you this much.

What moon colony? Newt did everything he could as speaker of the House in the 1990s to kill the space program, including canceling the Venture Star and DCX advanced launch vehicles that were intended to be private, not just government, systems programs. Now he wants to kill support for commercial space travel and go back to socialist pork barrel NASA programs. Note that tit is the conservatives who support big government space programs adn oppose Obama's efforts to open space up to capitalism and the private sector.
