i need information about the plates of the earth. Also, i was wondering if anyone knows what plates are and where they are on the globe.

Hi. The plates, called tectonic plates, float on the molten mantle far below the surface. You are standing on one now. The edges of the plates are where all the activity takes place. Plates are nothing but a hard cover that is protecting us from the core. There are oceanic plates and continantial plates.
South, North America ,Asia, Austraila and the ocean are all plates.
