I tried out for a part in Excalibur (the play about King Arthur, when he pulls the sword from the stone) I got in, but our acting teacher still has to see who is who in the play. I'm trying for Morgan La Fay (sp?) She's evil but beautiful. We have to use an english accent. I'm a little nervous, but more confident than I was when I tried out, b/c I actually made it in (yay!). Any tips??? Please help!

The fact that you got a first call back signifies the audition went well, and someone thought enough of you to fine tune the process and include you.

No offense and certainly no real compaison, but consider something as inane as AM Idol auditions.

I suggest you need not DO ANYTHING different unless directed to be more "Specific" with regard to what they are looking for. Believe this, you can't strictly "rehearse" for auditions.

Certainly practice the accent. In fact get DVD's etc of the play itself, and or period pieces similar, to not only nail down the accent, but inflections, nuances, the language itself as in the words used in the period,,, IE: YAH! (consider that wasn't used at the time) Smiles, but other words meaning the same thing, were used.

Finally,,, RELAX. I suggest this is like a trophy, and if you get rejected, don't take it as a personal attack. We all had to start somewhere.

i work at a rennaisance faire every summer so i kinda grew up being able to speak in an english accent, but something a lot of people i know try is before you get to callbacks, start trying to say 'the ale is in the oxen cart' in an english accent. it kinda helps you get used to an accent. ppl i know say it 3-5 times b4 faire starts. it kinda sounds like "thee ail is in thee ockson caht* its kinda weird, i know, but good luck!
