the North Shore, ie...Salem, Marblehead, Gloucester, Rockport, and Ipswich all have GREAT history and neat places. There is also Lexington and Concord, birthplaces of the American Revolution. Cape Cod is good, but expect to spend time stuck in traffic. The south shore is nice too, Plymouth, Duxbury etc. TONS of stuff to do and see. Oh, the New England Aquarium and the Science Museum are great. F'annal Hall, Quincy Market, and the North End are great in Boston. All depends on what you like and where your interests lay. If you love history, you'll love Boston and the North Shore.
