Well it was good for the economic trade during the 1600's to the 1800's. But when the Europeans landed in Africa they did more out of fear of the unknown knowledge about other humans from outside of their own world. It became into hatred and they developed the idea and thought that God put us onto this earth to be below the white people. But this is one of the main reasons that not many people know. They did inslave the native americans but they began to die out fast because of the hard labor and their bodies couldnt fight off Europeon diseases. They quickly found out that black people could handle hard labor much better and they could learn very fast( this made it easy for Europeans to teach slaves to understand commands and to do work more effectivly) with this the demand for black slaves grew resulting in the rich economic slave trade. Sad isnt it.

The black people are not the only people who have been slaves, just the most recent. At one time or another, every ethnic group on the planet has been salves. Through out history when tribes fought, the winning group captured members of the other tribe and either kept them as slaves, or sold them for slaves. The bible talks about slaves. Ancient literature talks about slaves. Slavery was not uncommon. When the British and Americans wanted workers for their fields, they went to the warring tribes of Africa and purchased slaves. Hopefully slavery is gone forever.

The British colonists in North America needed slaves to grow crops - coffee, tobacco, sugar, rice, and, much later, cotton. The Spanish and Portugese tried using native americans for slaves, but the natives resisted. So they began using and trading Africans.

One reason was because of the slave trade that the Europeans had. There were many civil wars in Africa and the prisoners of war were sold as slaves to the Eurpeans who gave the Africans gold and silver in return.

Well, the past tense may not be totally appropriate. There is still slavery in Sudan and epidemic sexual slavery around the world, including the United States.
