well if it almost started with starting fluid it could mean 1 thing...
that being that there is no or not enough fuel for combustion..
this could mean a number of things. First off check if u have fuel in the tank.As i know in the ford cars if u had an accident or even maybe a rough bump your fuel pump cut off could be triggered. This is a device located in the right side of the trunk behind the upholstery that switches off the fuel pump in the case of an accident. if u cant find it ..look in the owners manual and it will tell u exactly where its located. then if still not u could start by checking the fuses. if thats okay and u can hear the fuel pump running.(a buzzing noise in the rear) maybe its a clogged up fuel filter. If all that still isnt the problem then u could be looking at clogged up injectors or a faulty fuel pressure regulator. and if this couldnt be the cause then it could also be that the coolant temperature switch is sending a faulty temperature reading (eg- +40c) to the control unit which in turn doesnt allow the injectors to release as much fuel...Maybe you wouldnt be able to diagnose as far as ive mentioned here but atleast youd have an idea abt whats happening when u speak to a technician.

I had the same problem, it could be that you have bad gas, and you should go to autozone or murray's if you have one and get you some dry gas and put in it and let it sit for a minute, then try it, because the dry gas will evaporate the water out of your gas tank which will make the car hesitant to start, The best kind to ( Heet) is the name of the dry gas good luck hope it works for you, if not get your spark plugs changed on the car. Poor the Heet directly into your gas tank use the whole bottle, then maybe use it with every fillup , we have a lot of gas stations carrying bad gas lately

do not spray starting fluid in the intake anymore, you could blow out the fuel injectors, and that would be even costlier.
