Safeway.

It tried to compete against online grocers like Webvan by doing on-line groceries. As the grocery community found out, it is really expensive to do grocery logistics, people do lots of impulse buying when they are in stores and people need to see produce and meat before they buy it.

Toys R Us.
Tried to sell toys on its own website. Failed. Ended up retreating through their parnership with Amazon. Has decided to pull the plug on that.
