I don't think so. I believe the opposite is true. We can love ourselves only as much as we love others.

If I do not do something to show love for others, I believe it is impossible to love myself. When I perform that small act of love, I experience self love. The more I do this, the more I love others, & in turn love myself more.

The center of the Lord's Prayer is, I believe the essence of love:
".....And forgive us our trespasses as (in the same way) we forgive those who trespass against us."

Now, Let us clear up what love is. Go to 1st Corinthians, ch. 13 in the Bible for the best definition I know of. Then do it, don't just think it. Hope that helps, Confused. You're breaking my heart because I have been there.

Yes.
If you don't have a healthy relationship with yourself then loving another is going to be unhealthy like obsessive or abusive or so many hang ups people have.
On the other hand I think that we can be too much in love with ourselves and have the incapability to love another in a healthy way! I bet I'm not the only one that's hooked up with one of those suckers!

Yes, you cannot love others the right way without loving yourself.

That is taught in psychology all the time. Just stay away from too much pride. Too different things.

Absolutely. Love is not just one emotion. Love is several emotions/actions wrapped into one we call love. When you are a very young child, the world is "all about you." You are really only truly aware of yourself (i.e. feelings, actions, moods, etc.) Within this time is when you learn not only how to feel emotions, but how to deal with them within yourself. If you don't learn that, than how can anyone learn to deal with other people, which requires you to not only cope with your feelings, but your feelings about someone else's feelings, emotions, etc.

Personally I firmly believe that is correct, if you have no respect or love for your self how on earth are you going to learn to love others?once a person can accept they love themselves then they are half way to having a lifetime of happiness, and happiness is contagious.
