Pelvic exam. Your health care provider will examine your vagina and the opening to your uterus (cervix) for any infections or abnormalities.

Don't worry it is normal!!

A pelvic exam is an internal exam where a speculum is used to view your cervix and check for abnormalities. This procedure is done for exams where there is a possibility of contact with an STD/STI or in the case of a smear test.
If you are the same person who thinks she is pregnant, buy a urinary test from the chemist AND read about your sexual health.
I might add that until you understand these simple things, please refrain from having sex. You may end up with an STD and that could be worse than an unwanted pregnancy.
Remember to be safe.
Good luck

Depends on why they're doing the exam. Some doctors can feel things like early pregnancy my feeling outside.. but to do find out if the cervix is dilated etc they need to actually do an internal exam.

Yes a pelvic exam needs to be done internally. it doesnt normally hurt and is essential . if youre pregnant i presume youve already had a pap smear? this is even less uncomfortable. when it comes for you to give birth to your baby you will need to be examined internally every couple of hours to see how far your cervix is dilated. refusing these exams could put you and your baby at serious risk.
