log 3^(x/12) = log 0.1
x/12 * log 3 = log 0.1
x/12 = log 0.1/log 3
x = 12 log 0.1/log 3

use logarithims

by definition 3^(x/12)=0.1 in logarithim terms is

log base 3 of .1 = x/12
so x = 12 * ((log .1)/(log 3))
