I've read all three and enjoyed them - although I have a friend who read the first on my recommendation and didn't like it much at all. I liked the first and third parts best; the second part wasn't as good. Don't expect something like Harry Potter. Although the book is set in a world where magic is commonplace, it's entirely different - quite political, especially the latter books. Even the writing style is quite a contast to JK Rowling. The chapters are told from alternating points of view; the ones from the persepctive of Bartimaeus the Djinn are very funny - the others less so. I didn't find the main character, Nathaniel, very easy to like, especially as the series progressed. However, it's certainly worth a try; buy the first one and see what you make of it!

I read book 1 of the Bartimaeus Trilogy. It was just OK to me... Harry Potter was definately more creative... This trilogy would just have to be...unique.

I've read the entire series over a span of time. I read Book one of both series. (Sorry, Harry is a distant second to many books for me) I think that Bartmaeus is Hilarious and intriguing. I am rereading book one right now!!! I never read books twice. This is the second book that I have read TWICE in seven years!!!
I hope that I can own the whole series sometimes. It'll be great!!
