does any one have a sloution on what we could do help this problem your help would be greatly appreciated ! thanks !

My parents sound-proofed my brother's bedroom when they renovated. Ask a contractor to do that for you in the ceiling or floors... shouldn't be all that expensive, and most definitely worth it.

Better (stronger, thicker) floorboards in the attic would be a start, and decent insulation. You would need to build the space between the first floor and the attic as you did the space between the ground and first floors.

For more money you can invest in soundproofing of the floors, or even use pauper's soundproofing - egg boxes filling the space under the floorboards will soak up most noise!

Well, if you don't plan on doing any demolition there are lots of things you can do. Change the flooring (laminant floors, Carpeting, etc...) Change the lighting (inset lighting, or even track lighting to expand the room) I know most attics have beams, you can use these to your advantage, just add some shelving in between them for storage. The possibilities are endless. If you want to actually reconstruct the room, I do suggest getting a pro to help. There alot of beams that may be very detrimental to your home. You don't want to remove something important.

by noise, do you mean squeaking floorboards? if so, then you need to lift the lino or carpet and nail down the floorboards using a LOT of nails. obviously this floor was not constructed for use as a child's playroom when the house was originally built. after the floorboards are securely nailed down, cover them with a very thick rubber underlay before putting down the carpet. you can buy interlocking rubber mats that can be cut to fit the space exactly--theyre relatively inexpensive (about 15 dollars for a package containing 16 sq. feet)

You should have the floor examined by an expert before spending any money. My thought when I read your question was if you don't have extra thick padding under carpet, you should. Wherever you buy your carpet someone will advise you on the type of flooring and the type of padding you need. You didn't say how old these children are, perhaps you should limit the types of toys they have in their room and the amount of non-sleeping time in the room. Good luck!

Perhaps, it's better to change the rooms. Let child's bedroom be on the first floor. Guests can move slightly but children can't.

It depends really m8. Other than fully soundproofing the room (which could cost hundreds or ? into the four fighure sums!) egg boxes are excellant for soundproofing rooms. I did it wen i used to dj but my room was only small. A local supermarket will provide u with as many as you need and honestly it really works. Try it and let me know. Dan

You can add insulation between the floor (attic) and ceiling (2nd floor). either have it blown in or pull of floor and add the rolls. We have a two story house and my daughter is right above us. When we redo her carpet we will "shoot" extra insulation, laydown a thicker padding and then lay the carpet.

insulate the floor with sound deadening insulation and add carpet with padding. should help an awful lot.
