...As in Buffalo Bills? I get that Buffalo is the name of the city that they play in but their home teams are often represented by a bison (i.e. Sabres). But what is a bill, and why is their logo still a bull?

Buffalo Bill was a guy in the old western times. The NFL team is named after him. They use it logo of a Buffalo since it is the town's name and is more appealing than the guy's photo. (The last sentence is a guess, but the first two are accurate.)

Presumably named after one "Buffalo" Bill Cody, a 19th century hunter.

hahahahahaha, that's a damn good question. that is interesting that their mascot is a buffalo which is the name of the city since all other teams (i think) is just a city name then a mascot separate from the city. yeah, what is a BILL?

My son who was on the team in 2001 told me that Bills stand for Boy I Love Losing Superbowls.
