square both sides:
3x + 4 = x^2
now it is a normal trinomial

x^2 - 3x - 4 = 0
(x-4)(x+1) = 0
x = 4 or x = -1

Square root of 3X + 4 = X

(square both sides...)
(square of a square root is the expression itself)

3X + 4 = X^2

(transpose 3X + 4 to the other side of the equals sign)

X^2 - 3X -4 = 0

(X - 4)(X + 1) = 0

Now, you have two answers...

X - 4 = 0.......... and X = 4
X + 1 = 0......... and X = -1

rewrite the equation like that

3x+4=x^2

x^2-3x-4=0
solve it and you may get this equation set

(x-4)(x+1) =0

x =4
x=-1
