ok i picked this topic for my english research paper.Im having a hard time finding sources for this topic.A source that can talk about the treatment of the mentally ill,how they used to be treated and how mental illness is caused.I would appreciate any help.Thank you.

Then Thorazine came along. it's side effect is called T.D. or EPS (parting your hair with your tongue) I am 47 and when I was a nurse 21 right out of school I had a patient with a lobotomy. They also lined patients lined up down the hall for electric shock therapy. That was Memorial Hospital in Springfield Illinois.

There are many, many different types of mental illnesses and you will probably have a much easier time if you narrow your subject by choosing one particular mental illness to research.
The most common mental illness in North America is depression, and the second is schizophrenia. Addiction is also often regarded as a mental disorder.
