If you have so many percent of a number first you have to find out how much one percent is.

So you divide the number by how many percent you have.
In your case that is 144 divided by 60.

Since one percent is 1/100 of the whole, now you have to multiply by 100.

That's really all there is to it.

So I gave you all the steps, I'm sure you can do the computing all by yourself.

0.6 * x = 144
so x = 144 / 0.6 (use calc here)

OR x = 144 / 6 * 10
= 24 * 10
= 240

60% = 0.60 or just 0.6

144
x 0.6
