I've heard that left-over coffee grinds are good for plants! If this is true, my plants can have all they want. I'm a caf-fiend! Drink lots.

So now I am really wondering. How much is too much for them? And can I just water them with the left over coffee? I'm totally serious, here.

Ever hear of it? And did you ever here of P.Allen Smith? He is supposed to know all of this kind of stuff, but it might take to long to email him, and I'd rather ask you! Thanks!

In my family it has always been said that acid loving plants like coffee. Things like roses, evergreens, and tomatoes. People told me I couldn't keep strawberries growing in our climate but I have them all along the front of my deck and for five years now I have been pouring my cooled coffee on them. They seem to love it. I would check the plants you are considering and see if they prefer acid or sweet soil PH.

I'm an organic gardener.
Coffee grinds thrown directly onto plant/garden beds may not bode too well for every type of plant. Most ppl use a "compost" mixture which includes mulch& peat moss. So, a safer mixture would be 1/3 of each of the former (peat, coffee grinds, yard mulch). I do this for my garden as I grow organic, and it helps immensely.
Some ppl do put pure coffee grinds on their lawns.Supposedly, this richens the soil a little bit better when it mixes with the natural organics in your lawn. The secret is how thick to apply it.I heard several different theories, and I guess it depends on the type of soil your yard is composed of.
Below is a link to a forum I belong to.It's been a great help for me!

Recent reference to cooled coffee poured in pots of geraniums-- "they loved it and bloomed terrifically"-- of course it could be the daily attention-- but hey-- what ever works.
