My sister told me today that she is pregnant! Yippee!....BUT, She is four months gone and its her second child, the first being a girl! When she had her first scan the doctors found that she has a growth on her ovary! Although they said the baby is okay, should she be worried! Naturally she is, but I was wondering if anyone can help me if they know anything about this kind of thing, or if you have experienced this yourself or know someone who has! Any knowledge would be appreciated! Thank you guys! x

IF doctors were concerned
they would consider her an 'at risk' pregnancy
which means they would have her be seen every week, probably
Without knowing what the specific growth is
it can drive anyone crazy trying to search all the specific 'possible IFs'
so just be assurred that sis will have professionals
watching out for her
and help her relax and enjoy this pregnancy
because she will have her hands full soon
How far apart will the new baby be in years from the oldest?

This could be a cyst. I also had them when pregnant. They are normal during prgnancy. They do go away on their own. They are cause by the wide range of hormones. If the doctor was not worried then it is the normal kind seen very frequently.
8 years after I had my last child I had a cyst come back, I took birth control pills for 3 months and then the problem was resolved.
Try to comfort her and let her know that this is very normal. It will go away on its own and her child will be health and not have any effects from the cyst.

The main thing is to stay in constant contact with the doctor. They may want to know if there is a history of cancer in the family and a few other things. The doctor would not lie. If they say things are okay they are. Pray and be calm!

With both my second and third pregnancies I have a cyst once on my ovary and once in the uterus. Both times they just went away and caused no problems at all. They will check it again if she has any problems but she can probably relax. I hope everything will be fine for her and her baby.Congratulations to her!!!

Ovarian cysts are very common and it's likely what they're seeing on the scan. Assuming this is true, there is nothing to worry about.
