Red and silver will give a feel of warmth - very Christmassy.
I like electric blue and some sparkling white baubles - but maybe mine looks too much like a shop window!

purple and silver, my favourite colours. I have white snowball lights and a silver star that glows. Red, gold and green is the classic though. If you have a large living room and a big bay window a tree with those colours would look great. I'm not a huge fan of multicoloured and flashing though.

Depends what colour your room is. You could try tying some of the predominent colours of your room in with the tree. I had a lilac (dont ask) living room and found that lilacy/light blue decorations looked good.
Personally i think reds and silvers are the nicest, most christmassy colours too....
Also, i have a hand puppet of Sweep (from sooty) at the top - that extra talking point!!

I have silver, blue and lilac which looks great on a traditional green tree whereas on more modern black trees that are around gold and red stand out the most !

gold, silver, metallic purple, red, almost any color. The color of the tree is also important when choosing the colors. If you have one of those gray trees you don't want to put silver decorations, you might want to put colors that will stand out. Good Luck and Merry Christmas! ;-)

Red and silver and white will clash..ideally you need to match warm colours with warm colours and cold colours only with cold colours..
For example - red/gold together &the white/silver with blues and lilacs..
Personally I like the warm colours to contrast with the weather outside and to be inviting at a sociable fun time..

I have two themes...
1) homemade decorations mostly red. The garland is red beans rope (found in 100 foot long) and the ornaments are homemade made of plastic canvas (sew in wool) in different characters like santa claus, Reindeer, boxes, snowman etc that i made in my early teens in family room on 6 foot tree. I call it woodland tree
2) GOLD and WINE only on the display 8 foot tree in the front enterance hall with those angels, wine and gold ribbons, musical symbols, etc. I call it Musical Angel tree which it is fully (i mean fully) decorated with 2,500 (combinated with both LED and mini clear lights). When lights are on you cannot see the decorations itself. LOL
my next goal is white decorations only like snowflakes, white ribbons, etc on another tree which may be next year or two in the sitting room. Also I'm working on collecting nutcrackers (small to large still in storage room), the nutcrakers will go on the christmas tree in the dinning room. which will may be another 3 years from now because my godson (who is 2 now) is afraid of nutcrakers so i had to wait.

My little tree is a silver tinsel tree, with multi-colored lights. The decorations are white, black, and red. I think it's really pretty at least.

This depends entirely, of course, on the colour tree you have and is entirely a matter of preference. Some people choose to have one colour, this depends on the scheme you have chosen for your other decorations and other people have multi coloured especially if children are decorating and some of the decorations become family favourites over the year. Chic or family friendly that is your choose.

Sounds very sophisticated and chic. Good choices. The one in my house (I am not a Christian but my roommate is and she put up the tree) is also silver, white, with some subtle little lavender and light blue balls. Very pretty. Peace on Earth! :)
