Best traffic (and free by the way) still comes from the search engines.
If you don't have a content-rich site that ranks well in the search engines, you might have to buy traffic.
There are several pay-per-click engines suche as Google Adwords, Yahoo , 7search and others where you can buy clicks starting from 1 cent depending on your keywords.

Hi,
You could get traffic to your site by joining related forums, which means you should be talking/meeting people who are interested on what you are selling. The thing here is that you should build your own community by taking to the right people on the right places.
Also, you may want to try to submit your url/link to search engines and directories so people would know your site once they do their search. Most of these directories and seach engines are free anyway.
Good luck!

Free classified advertising is a good place to start. Once you start getting traffic from that you can move onto other avenues.

here's some ideas:
write articles, and submit them to article directories with a link to your site in the resource box
post in forums related to your website, with a link to your site in your signature file
submit your site to as many SEO friendly link directories as possible: ones that do not require a reciprocal link
keep a blog related to your site, and keep it updated regularly with unique content. Ping your blog with a blog pinging service like pingoat.com whenever you update.
hope these help
