You could put your business cards or flyers up on notice boards in supermarkets & hospitals or even local doctors surgeries. Hand them out to all your friends & tell them to pass them on to all their friends & colleagues, word will soon get around. you could even advertise your service on the internet
You could fax and email companies you think would want to use your service. Get their address out of the phone book. You could send out flyers with your local newspaper or even deliver them yourself. Good luck!!!!

Depends on your business and where you are located--ads cost but promotions are free. Have a contest of some kind that gives away a big prize to the main winner and a discount to anyone else who signs up. Send a press release to all local media outlets (tv, radio, newspapers, chamber of commerce) promoting your contest. Sponsor a local community sports team. Place a float in the parades. Put a team together for "Race for the Cure". Lots of marketing ideas out there--look at other businesses in your location or field and see what they are doing and create your own version.

Get your self a contract Mobile phone with a whole lot of free Texts then construct a good shortText ad and send it free to anybody who may be intested..If the potential customers are on a good coms company's landline they will recieve the Text free as a voice message..If they are not on a decent company's telephone service they are probably not worth bothering with anyway.

Sign upto www.vistaprint.co.uk as they do free stationary, business cards, notebooks etc. All you do is pay for the postage. They've been very good- I've used them a few times. Also consider cross-promotion with similar companies, depending on what you sell.

eBay now has a classifieds ad section that costs $10 to run your ad for a month. You can promote your business that way. Just type in classified in the help section of eBay.

Get a freephone - it gives potential customers the impression that you're bigger and more established than you actually are, and they're very cheap to operate. If you want any more information, just email me.
Good luck,
John Galvin.

post a more specific question including:
- what u sell
-what is ur target market
-what is ur marketing budget
probably the best generic answer is via websites, ebay shops, word of mouth & cross selling - try getting shops to hand out ur leaflets ect.

I recently read a book called Smart Marketing on a Small Budget, and found it to be very useful.
