These are four excellent questions and would require much more time than I can dedicate at the moment.
The answer to the first question would require volumes. To capsulize, Iraq is a stepping stone to a solution to the entire Middle-East problem.
Standing in the way of success is time and the American people's patience.
The current solution is the policy being followed by the military. Again, it will take time to settle Iraq.
The cost of not addressing the problem in Iraq and the rest of the Middle-East, our very liberty.
I am sorry I didn't have the time to go into greater detail. You posed four excellent questions.

Causes/History of the War in Iraq?

Cause was the high risk of Saddam to the peace of the Western World as he demonstrated foolishness in attacking his neighbors indicating he could care less about who he attacks. So he was perceived as a wild card and a risk to the US. But I think another big part of the cause was the US arrogance that we have the right to make a huge attack on Iraq. No doubt Saddam hurt lots of innocent people but I think our hubris led us down a path where we simply may not find success militarily because Iraq is split and not motivated to solve their problems as they are both sides of the war.

Obstacles standing in the way of the war in iraq?

Main obstacle is what John Kerry said: Iraqi people are not motivated to take a stand against hier brethren terrorist. It is such a shame that we did not understand this thinking before we attacked.

Current solutions being proposed by politians and pundits?

There is not viable solution being proposed. The only solution is if the Christian God decides to step in and turn the hearts of the terrorist toward peace. People are not goingto solve this one this generation. Maybe in the next generation.

Cost of not fixing the problem in iraq?

Lots more innocent people die and the US masses enormous more debt paying for the war. In time the problem could be fixed as the next generation sees terrorism is not a satisfying way of life (I am a Libertarian and an extreme conservative)

My understanding and thoughts on Iraq:

1) Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait and was stopped by coalition forces. He signed a treaty outlining what he was to do and what he could and could not do. He violated this numerous times predating the the actual invasion of Iraq. He also attempted to take the life of George H. Bush on one occasion and shot at coalition aircraft monitoring the no fly zone. He refused inspections and actually kicked inspectors out. His actions were very suspicious to say the least. He was asked to comply but wouldn't. Told to go into exile but didn't. There was also corruption in the UN concearning him and the Oil for Food program.

2)The ovious insurgancy of foreign terrorist disrupting and murdering the current Iraqi government. The Democrate that destory troop morale, create propaganda for the terroristic insurgacy and clunking up political process.

3)Believe it or not they are gathering tons of intelligence on the insurgancy. My guess is some which shouldn't be revealed at the time. One thing that is interesting that leads me to believe this is that the leader of Hezballa threatened the Lebonon government. Lebebnon, Syria and Iran are were most of the insurgancy is coming from. I'm absolutly certain they are calculating and altering solutions and plans.

4)The cost of it is irrelevant. What is the cost of not fixing it? What is the cost of sticking our heads in holes and hoping they go the other way?

This is my question to you: If Iraq had nothing to do with the war on terror why are there so many over there? In my opinion there were multiple reasons to go into Iraq. If Saddam was a teddy bear we would not have worried with him. It would be nice to live in candyland and everyone was friendly but that stuff is for books, movies and day dreaming. What gets me is some Liberals that call me nieve for having my veiws but consider themselves smart for letting the terrorist do as they please without resistance. Who is the nieve one? Most people that ride on Bush are doing it from false political propoganda that was fed to them. As voting citizans we should read up and become more educated. Sharpen our opinions and take it to the polls... Another thing that gets me is the flip flopping most of the Democrates. The least bit of resistance they start turning and shifting the blame. They should think out their votes before stepping on the voting floor. They have a history of this.
