Quake 4 Loading Error?

My son is trying to load Quake 4 on his laptop and everytime he goes to launch it he gets Error during initialization, he will get his first flash screen and then go directly to a screen that looks like it's a dos screen? Any suggestions. His laptop is less than 3 months old.

During the install, I've seen errors if the user chooses not to install the DirectX 9.0C program. If your son wants to try the install again, tell him to say "yes" to that install. Hopefully that'll help. Good luck.
