It has made me stronger in my beliefs as a republican. I have seen too much dissent, and too much hate for our own country on here, that it only reaffirms my beliefs. The hate and lies spread just because one does not like our president is just childish. What ever happened to constructive criticism. Name calling, cloning, and trolling accomplishes nothing. I know it happens on both sides and I am not accusing anyone, but let's get back to the issues and agree to disagree.

I no longer think all liberalism is a mental disorder. There is some logic behind their thinking. Now I realize that on some issues, you really have to chose what you think is the best, and not always what is more logical.
I have also learned some belief differences both possess very valid logic, the only difference is their own opinion of life. It seems to be more of a genetic and raising situation on some issues. Such as you thinking there should be no rules in war, and while I agree to some extent with you, others propose we must keep humanity, even if it costs lives. It is actually a valid point and helps me understand the overall liberal stand-point
EDIT: 43, I feel you

Since participating on Answers Politics, yes.
Because of participating on Answers Politics, no.
Since participating here, I have lost some faith in our President's decision making ability, learned that the deepening political divisions among Americans are a reflection of larger philosophical and/or religious divisions, and even more amazingly that the latter divisions are mainly caused by deepening divisions of the same type between Americans and people of other countries and/or belief/government systems (mostly Arab/Islam).

Well,I know a few things more clearly now.
1-Social conservtaives prowl this site to find some innocent mod/lib to release their fundie nationalist venom on.They are the result of American political advertising, not maturity.
2-I knew I was right about how much people are dissapointed on Bush and Iraq, unfortunately.
3- I have seen a number of people who at first came off as excessively conservative who in fact came to realize there was no 1 major party that explained their viewpoint totally.
4-Political expression is personal first, rational a distant second.
5-There is so much about peoples true personality that at first does not meet the eye.
6-People will sometimes make serious changes to their outlook once they find someone who expresses a similar opinion that were at first unable to ariticulate.
7-A lot of "conservative on everything" types dont really engage in actual debate. If you mention this it gets avoided a lot.

It has strengthened my belief that the power in the Republican Party could care less about the average American. Moral safety net of the people, hogwash. Fiscal responsibility, ridiculous. Smaller government, laughable. School system, broken. No health care, nothing done about illegal immigrants, no border security, jobs being lost, our society slowly sinking backwards. I'd say the republicans have done a wonderful job over the last eleven years. No child left behind? Most Americans are being left behind.

In a word no. I still believe that all politicians no matter what political part they are from are nothing more than crooked, incompetent, lying, cheating hippocrates. Oh did I say that out loud?

I no longer feel the need to be subtle about my dislike for the Bush Family.
YA has liberated me.
In 1980 I did not vote for Raygun because he was hooked up with Bush. in 88 I again had no one to vote for 92 Again no one to vote for. 96 00 no one to vote for.
I refuse to vote for what's available just because Corporate funding made that the only decision available.
I feel like a disenfranchised Conservative.

Yes.
I've found Conservatives to be even less rational than I originally thought. And my expectations were very low coming in.
I can understand the smart corporate elite types who vote Republican because it helps make them richer. I could never understand the average Joe who votes that way though. RNC marketing I suppose.

My political views have strengthened. I have seen how much hate and intolerance exists on the other side. I know it also exists in my party, but only to a fraction of the oppositions' HATE.
