Inverse Operations Meaning

2016-10-30 07:45:01 · answer #2 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

Inverse somewhat means the opposite. The inverse of addition is the opposite of addition which is subtraction (the opposite of adding 5 is subtracting 5). Subtraction undoes addition and vice versa. So they are inverse operations of each other. Another basic pair of inverse operations are multiplication and division. The opposite of multiplying by five is dividing by five. Other inverse operations:

powers and roots (ie power of 2 (squaring) and square root are inverse operations)

exponential functions and log functions

derivitive and integral

I'm sure there are others. Hope this helps.
