If you like the feel of silk sheets, may I suggest the cotton sateen. They have the same silky feel, but without the hassle of dry cleaning etc. When purchasing sateen sheets choose a thread count of at least 350.
Ralph Lauren has a beautiful line of sateen sheets called their "Estate Collection". I personally, will not buy any other brand. Though my mother has a set by DKNY Pure, which is 600 thread count...and these are like butter.
A Queen size fitted sheet in the Ralph Lauren Estate Collection retails around $125 and up; however, you can get last season's colors on eBay for around $39.99. It is well worth the investment.

Silk is lovely. For me, on a regular basis, I prefer cotton.

I'd go with Cotton. I'm always cold so I stay away from cold fabrics like Silk or Satin.
