They are 3, and they are 5 days old... so when is the best time to take them apart from mom?

Males need to be seperated from the mother at 3 weeks of age to prevent reimpregnating her. Females can be left with her indefiniately.

Boys can be take away at 2 weeks NO longer than 3 or 4 weeks or you might get more babies!
Girls can stay with mom till you want to take them away, somepeople take them away at 3 weeks.

They can managed ok from very early on but I liked to keep them with the mother for at least 6 weeks. They eat solid food straight away so they aren't so reliant on milk as some young mammals but it's still better for them to get properly weaned.
