We are going to have one freezing winter. Probably the coldest since 1997. We had that ice and snow storm. It was crazy. Snow was up to my waist. It took us a day to get out of the house and the streets to clear it almost took a week. I'm from Lexington, Kentucky residing in Fort Campbell area now. I hate the cold! I don't even feel like going outside to go to work sometimes.

We have already had 2 good snowstorms where I live, but the snow is all gone again since we have had much milder temperatures for a few days. Here in eastern Canada every day we get from now on without snow is a gift. I do not like winter either, and I hate shoveling snow, though I do a lot of it. I am hoping that this winter will be similar to last winter when we didn't get any real amount of snow until February. We are dreaming of a green Christmas!

It was October and the Indians on a remote reservation asked their new Chief if the coming winter was going to be cold or mild. Since he was a Chief in a modern society he had never been taught the old secrets. When he looked at the sky he couldn't tell what the winter was going to be like.

Nevertheless, to be on the safe side he told his tribe that the winter was indeed going to be cold &that the members of the village should collect firewood to be prepared
He then went to the phone booth, called the National Weather Service and asked, "Is the coming winter going to be cold?"

"It looks like this winter is going to be quite cold," the meteorologist at the weather service responded.

So the Chief went back to his people & “Collect more firewood!” He ordered A week later he called the National Weather Service again. "Does it still look like it is going to be a very cold winter?"

"Yes," the weather man replied, "it's going to be a very cold winter."

The Chief again went back to his people “collect every scrap of firewood you can find!” Two weeks later the Chief called the National Weather Service again. "Are you absolutely sure that the winter is going to be very cold?"

"Absolutely," the man replied. "It's looking more & more like it is going to be one of the coldest winters ever."

"How can you be so sure?" the Chief asked.

The weatherman replied, "Because the Indians are collecting firewood like crazy."
