What would you do? Lets say that you are at the happiest in your life you have acheived all that you've ever dreamed for ( family, success, whatever it is that you think will guarantee your happiness) but one night you see a rape occuring ( be it wherever) do you stop it at the risk of your own life? or do you walk away and pretend to see nothing (see no evil, hear no evil)? Why?

FYI it takes the cops 20 minutes minimum to respond to a call the act of Rape takes 15 tops. The police are not an option.

Depends on your point of view in life...

Could you live with yourself if you did nothing? Would you continue to be haunted by it?

Wouldn't you want someone to do something if it were your wife, your sister, or your mother?

I think that I personally would try to stop it, if I could do so without making it worse for us both, and if not, I'd find someone as quickly as possible to help. Both for my peace of mind, and also because it is simply the right thing to do, regardless the consequences to me.

Saddly, too many people these days don't seem to have empathy for others whatever the situation. They just cannot seem to put themselves in the other persons shoes so to speak. If only this were not the case. Rape is a terrible crime and should be stopped by all means. But it would be wise to excercise caution as to how one decides to go about it. If fearing for their own safety, it would be best to call for help before attempting to get involved. Get as many details as possible and report the incident to the police. If this has been a personal experience and now you are regretting your response, it is never too late to do the right thing. If you know the woman/man involved, go to her/him if you feel you can and tell them you are there to support. This reassurance could prove to be the very thing the victim needs right now. And the man responsible needs to be stopped- he should also be punished! It isn't really that difficult a question if you ask yourself, what would you want the observer to do if you were to one being raped?

JCrst, no way would I walk away, I'd phone the police on the b-r-s-t-d and stay in the area so I could notify them if he gets away and how before they arrive. I don't think it's wise to intervene, the damage and violation has already been caused to the poor victim, and the situation could get even worse with an interference.

If you ignore it, you would feel bad afterwords. And even if you do ignore it there could be a risk of you gettin in trouble with the law to.. hiding crimininal information. Think about it....what would you do if the person being raped was your best friend or even a family member?

step in as it is the humane thing to do....I am not sure why you are asking such a question...as if I were to walk away....well I know that I will no longer be happy (ever) as I allowed an atrocity to occur...why would one not risk stopping this crime?....Its called doing the right thing....integrity....courage....
