Last night, I was at the movies. After my movie ended, I went to the bathroom - there was a short line for the men's room, and a longer line for the ladies room.
Right after I got in line, a guy brought his girlfriend into the men's room (I could hear her telling him "I can't wait in that line! I have to go") and he and his girlfriend cut the line, he walked her to the only stall in the mens room, and as soon as the guy in the stall came out she went right in.
Was it OK for her to use the mens room?
Or should she have waited on line to use the ladies room, even though she would have had to wait a lot longer to go to the bathroom?
And should she have cut the line and gone right to the only toilet, or should she have waited on line (even though she needed the stall and the guys could have used either the stall or the urinals)?

Regardless if your male or female, if you are ready to go in your pants, then its time to bust into the opposite bathrooms if there is a crowd outside your genders bathroom door.

It's okay to use a men's room if the line is really long for the women's line but I could never do it personally. The problem is that women take longer in the restroom and most places do not consider that fact by putting in more toilets... I would think this place is one of them considering the men only had one themselves. It's still rude to cut the line though.. how old is she that she holds it so long that it gets to the point of nearly having an accident?

OK ...normally I wouldn't... BUT, I was stuck in a crowded McDonald's once (with the teeniest bathrooms ever) and the ladies room was sooooo crowded. My daughter was 4 months old at the time and "made a messy" in her diaper. She was screaming her head off (wouldn't you if you had to sit in that?) and the person who was picking me up hadn't showed, and it was February in Maine...too cold to walk. So....since the men's room was empty, I took her in there to change her diaper and save everyone in the restaurant some grief.
I think it depends on the situation...so, from a phrase borrowed from my mother (and a lot of other parents) "pee before you go". However, If you find yourself in a pickle...just go to the bathroom.

Wolf: It would be highly amusing to see some entitlement princess who reckons she's independent wet herself just because she couldn't be given more privilege than other people, men and women inclusive.
And to the original question: No. Basically when someone does this correct etiquette is "no she can get in line like everyone else and she can do it in the correct line as well".
Where I live this is technically illegal given privacy laws forbidding people to view members of the opposite sex engaging in a private act. So basically it sounds like we're only enforcing the law against men (again).

It's a difficult problem, in that sometimes desperation can cause desperate actions. Restrooms should be equipped to accommodate people in large public places and often they are not. Even so, I know I've heard women complain about other women, that some tend to linger and take their time when using the facilities. Men tend to do their business quickly and leave.

the only time I'd use the men's room is if i had a male service user with me and some one was using the disabled toilet who was fully abled how ever I'd also take him in the ladies and explained the situation to both male and female parties.

I don't have a problem with a woman coming into the mens bathroom to use the urinal. That would be true equality.

in this case it may be okay. If someone is gonig to wet their pants they need to get into the bathroom asap
is worth having someone pee themselves, mess up their clothes, embarass themselves, and cause a scene instead of cutting a line or going to the other gender's bathroom?
