I know about going into safemode, but a password is still requested. So I go into safemode with prompt-but there are no prompts, a password is still requested. ANyway I start the computer, no matter what mode, a password is ALWAYS requested. Ive had the same answer a few times about renaming SAM and stuff-but I never get to a point where I CAN do this. No matter what, the computer asks me for a password. What are my options from here to get past the password I dont know?

perhaps the answers you get aren't the answers you want because you don't specifically say what kind of password(s) it is that you're trying to bypass. is it a windows xp password? linux? windows 98? windows me? it could be anything, or even a bios password.

anyways, the methods on this page work 100% for windows xp:
http://www.petri.co.il/forgot_administrator_password.htm

of course you also have to read them thoroughly too.

The problem with the solution given above (copy &pasted, from pakihardware) Is that it asumes you are already logged onto the machine, the same one you need the password to. That kind of puts a damper on "your ten point answer"
Now here is a way to dump and change the password for any account on the machine (including admin) without ever logging in first : ) using a live Linux Live boot cd Austrumi.

Austrumi is a live Linux distribution CD that allows you, amongst other things, to reset your password the same way the Offline NT password & Registry editor does. Just create a bootable CD with the provided ISO, and boot on it. When you get at the prompt, type boot: nt_pass. This will start the utility and display a menu that let you modify any user's password on the current system. NT_pass is only included in version 0.9.2, so be sure to get this distribution if you want to use this feature.

EDIT**I notice this is a repost (slightly rephrased) where you have asked this question before, And I gave you the same information. Have you even tried the technique given above, I know you have not because it does indeed work.
If you are too technically incompetent/ lazy/ intimidated to follow the directions to solve your own problem, following freely given technical advice, Do you really have need to start a new post erroneously claiming the information you were given last time DOES NOT WORK? What are you looking for, a magic word to fix your 'puter problems? If so maybe, you should limit the scope of your internet activities to myspace.

Heres the 10 points answer. hehehe

Accessing Stored User Names And Passwords:

Access Stored User Names and Passwords with rundll32.exe in Windows XP
1. Click on START - RUN Type rundll32.exe keymgr.dll,KRShowKeyMgr
2. Press Enter

Breaking The XP Password:

In case of user password boot the pc in safemode by pressing the F8 key and then selecting the Safe Mode option. You can now logon as an administrator and XP wont prompt for the password. Incase of an administrator account try rebooting the pc in DOS. access C:\Windows\system32\config\sam . Rename SAM as SAM.mj
Now XP wont ask for password next time You Login. Also

Go to the cmd prompt .
Type net user *.
It will list all the users.
Again type net user "administrator" or the name of the administrator "name" *.
e.g.: net user aaaaaa *(where aaaaaa is the name).
It will ask for the password.
Type the password and there you are done.
Logging In As Administrator:

Hold the Ctrl-Alt key and press Del twice. This will bring up the normal login and you can log on as Administrator.

To unhide the Administrator account so it does show up:

Start Regedit

Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows NT \ CurrentVersion \ Winlogon \ SpecialAccounts \ UserList

Unhide the Administrator key by giving it a value of 1

If this is a Windows machine, try logging in as Administrator with a blank password, failing that, you will need to wire it up to a network, logon via another machine and atempt to hack it!

Good luck with this though - to my knowledge there is no way to bypass the password function - I mean that would kinda defeat the purpose wouldnt it!
