I've just made some fitted wardrobes that run the entire length of a wall and want to make the doors from wall cladding timber. Each door will be 2.5m tall and 0.5m wide. I intend to make the frames from 25mm x 50mm pse then fasten the cladding boards to them. The doors will sit proud of the wardrobe frame. (so as to hide it) Just wondering which hinges I should use and is there any difference.

It is always difficult to picture exactly the problem. However, it really is a question of how the doors will hang from the frame. For example will the doors sit inside the surrounding frame? If so, a butt hinge or flush hinge may be best. If the doors sit on top of the frame then you may need cranked hinges. The easiest way to find out is do a nice little sketch of the frame and door position and take it to a couple of DIY centres and ask the assistants there what they think. Often big DIY centres employ ex tradesmen which can be a great help. Good luck.

Why don't you go to a DIY store for advice and to see what types of hinges they sell. Then you can go to any Wilkinsons store to buy them because they have lots of different types at much cheaper prices. Good luck.

If they go down to the carpet you need brass rising butts if you have top space. If you want regular hinges then you need a regular heavy duty brass butt.
