I worked for a few years as a paid employee at a company, this allowed me to learn the ropes of the industry, make mistakes at my employers expense in learning and also witness what practices are best to use and why. Years later, I broke off and started my own company. Using the knowledge of how to run a business that I learned at my previous job, I cut out years of hard knocks right out of the starting gate

Definitely the experience you gain, particularly if you are interning in the field you would like as a career.

References - you can ask for references from the people you worked for, which will help you land your next, paying job.

Work history - you can use the internship on your resume, and have an advantage when you start job hunting for real.

I recently did an internship and found it very rewarding. The job I did and the experience I got was awesome. Also, the experience I got from an internship helped me get a good job. Good luck!

-looks good on your resume

-you can count it towards experience if a job you are applying for looks for previous experience in the field.

-helps you to find out which area you want to work in, if you like the work involved in a certain job, etc
