Absolutely!I have been traveling to and from Mexico for years. You can always use the HARD currency dollars in Mexico.
The exchange rate in a shop will be a little lower than in a bank, but you can use dollars. Try not to give a $50 for a 10 dollar item. You will always get pesos for your change. Learn to use pesos then.
KNOW the bankrate ahead of time, and don't be cheated!
I'll bet you are going to CANCUN on the east coast, or Cabo San Lucas on the west coast.
In Mexico we say, these are the cities to go to when the Mexicans want to "escape" Mexico.

I have never had a problem with being able to pay w/ dollars in Mexico, especially at tourist destinations(in Cabo, Mazatlan, Puerto Vallarta). You may be able to get a better deal w/ pesos, but problably not by much. Perhaps have some pesos with you, as you can alway trade it back later.

You'll get a 10 to 1 exchange rate when it's actually close to 11 to 1. Maybe the ship can do better. If you don't buy much - no big deal

Yes they do, & most items are even marked with USD & Pecos.

I just round it off to 10, if ti says 150 pecos would be almost 15.00 USD

Enjoy your trip, shouldn't have a problem

Yes but pay attention to the exchange rate, you don't get American money back for change, you get pesos. Take a calculator so you can convert it.

relies upon... in the adventure that your bargaining with a supplier on the line, you will get a extra suitable deal in case you employ US money. yet in taxis you will get a extra suitable fee with Pesos. the U. S. dollar is worth extra. i might substitute 0.5 of my spending money to Pesos.
