yup, and doesn't it seem like everyone wants to be a doctor these days? What are we future doctors going to do?

Nope, I'm a nurse and that is what I love. I get to focus on hands on patient care, spend time with them and make a real difference in their hospital stay. Physicians have a completely different focus that is less about the patient and more about the disease or diagnosis. Not my cup of tea!
KK - You don't know anything about nurses, if it wasn't for nurses, doctors would be screwed. We are the ones who are with the patients, it is our assessment that alerts the physician to potentially life threatening problems. Yeah, they may help in the resuscitation of a patient but, without the teamwork of the nurses and other health care professionals doctors wouldn't look so heroic. You have the naive impression that many lay people do - believe me doctors need nurses in order to function in a hospital setting and to come out looking like the "hero".

Not a medical Dr, but someday I hope to get a doctorate in a nursing field or biologiacal field, perhaps microbiology. I plan to finish my BSN, get some experience, then get my MSN and perhaps a Doctoral degree in Microbiology, b/c I really want to work for the CDC.

I want to be a doctor, not a nurse. The reason being that (I know I'm stereotyping, sorry!) nurses seem like women who are moms or something, you know. Doctors on the other hand, seem like people who are in charge saving lives. I know nurses help with this, too, but I don't know....I'm just confused now.
