I am about to move and will be filling out one of those change of address forms at the post office. Anyone know how long they will forward my mail? I don't even want to change my address if they will for a year because then I will probably change it again after 6 months being that I move around a lot while in college

For 12 months the USPS will forward all first class mail to you. For the six months after that the mail will be returned to sender, but your new address will be listed on it. After those 18 months you fall out of the system entirely. When you move again in six months make sure you 1) File a new change of address and 2) Have your Letter Carrier fill out a change of a change form that way your original file will be updated to show that your up to date address is correct.

If this is the UK Post Office, the form will allow you to select how long.

Minimum is 1 month and maximum (on one form) is 12 months.

If you sign up for (example) 2 months and then you decide it is not enough, you can fillout a new form and extend it.

There is a fee attached to this (I think we paid about £35 per adult per year).

Just checked, info here:

Thy forward 1st class for a year, 2nd class for 2 months, 3rd class is disposed of and 4th class for a year, but you pick up the postage.

Put in a temporary forward for six months

you can get a temporary change of address for less than a year and then you can do it again and again until you become permanently situated. then you put in a permanent address change and your mail will be forwarded for one year and the people who send you mail and want your new address will be notified for eighteen months.

This depends on where you live as the post offices in different countries operate on different schedules. It likely won't be for a year, though. Most re-directs are for 90 days at most, and some are less than that.

There is a form you fill out at the post office and they will forward all your mail to your new address.
