Good points about From Hell:
1. Johnny Depp.
2. Great atmosphere.
3. Perfect costuming.
4. Perfect cinematography.

Weak points:
1. Based on a Jack the Ripper theory that simply doesn't conform to reality.

The movie is actually From Hell. I loved it, even though it was gory in a lot of parts. There were a lot of other good actors and actresses in it as well. It wasn't a blockbuster as many of the other films that Johnny did before the Pirates franchise. But, I think more people are starting to appreciate Johnny Depp and his career and are going back and watching his other films. Johnny is a brilliant actor in any of the films he does whether it's a blockbuster or not.

very dark and eerie movie. Even though the freaky aspect of the late19th centuary with a smart serial killer on the loose has been successfully potrayed, the story is not accurate, especially the climax. Jack the Ripper was one of the famous and most feared of serial killers who was never captured. Ofcourse, Johnny Depp was brilliant!

Good flick, makes interesting assumptions about the Ripper mythos. The reason the Directors were able to get such an eerie feel is that this was an adaptation of a comic book graphic novel....storyboards already done for them. It's also why the innacuracies were there, not many comic books known for historical accuracy.
**Spoiler** I love that it turns out that Bilbo Baggins (the same actore of course) is the dreaded killer--that slays me

I bought it when it came out as my mate was in it ....only to find they had scrubbed her scenes!!! I don't think it was a block buster and I wasn't that impressed.

yes, i've seen it. it was good. but i think it inaccerelty portray jack the ripper.
