My daughter is 7 and she has severe constipation. It is not a medical problem, I know this for sure. Any ideas about how I can take care of this problem? She is very uncomfortable. I have tried the suppositories but they dont seem to work. Any ideas please????

My daughter, who is now 18, used to have that problem a lot. The doctor told me to put a tsp of mineral oil in all of her meals. That really did seem to work.

For my daughter I used a shot glass filled with orange juice and a tablespoon of mineral oil. We called it her orange milk shake. It acts as a stool softner.

Talk to her doctor about Miralax. It's a powder, prescription laxative and a LOT of children take it.

you can go to your GP and perscribe 'Lactulose' which is a liquid sweet form...it works by breaking down the feaces from the top working its way through down to the bottom....other things you could try is get her to drink plenty of water, eat fruit and vegetables everyday and exercise

Make sure she is eating enough fiber: i.e, carrots, whole wheat bread, cereals.

If they don't help, contact a physician for other ideas.

pear juice works on babies. i'm not sure of the effect on an aolder child, but it wouldn't hurt to try unless she's allergic to pears.

prunes prunes and more prunes.
They are sweet and kids will eat them. And it's natural, can't
hurt them. It softens everything and then whoosh.
