I am NOT very mechanically inclined and NOT at all handy. I only have a few tools (screwdriver). I don't want to risk getting acid on my or ruining my clothes.

If I remove a battery, I'm afraid I won't be able to get it back in. The battery is dead, I think.

Dude or whoever you are, it's not that hard to take the battery off any vehicle. you just disconnect the wires that are the top of the battery. ( Keep in mind that you must have the car turned off first if you don't want to become electrocuted) (spl chk) and id you've had the car running for a while, make sure that you wait at least an hour before trying to remove the wires! Other than that, you should be okay. holla!!!!

Sounds like you need to get a jump start and go to a service shop and let them do it. Removing and replacing a battery is a simple operation but in your case of no experience at all I would not try. I don't know your location but some sears/K mart or wal mart have auto repair. They would charge less than a regular repair shop. There is a possibility of getting hurt if you ground the positive battery terminal while trying to disconnect it. Take it to someone that knows how. It's only a 30 minute job.

Batteries are simple to change you just unscrew the cables from the battery and pull it out you wont get anything on your clothes unless it is and injured battery (like from an accident) take it to an auto parts store they dispose of them and just replace the battery with the recommended cca (cold cranking amps) or more cca than recommended. I personally get more cca than recommended to make cold winter starts easier.

More information would tell me if the battery was dead. What exactly is the car doing? Does the radio work? Does it try o turn over?
