I dont get what the big deal is about getting your ears pierced.

They think that it will enhance their appearance, much like plastic surgery.I think the real questions here is " Why do people care what they look like?" And "why are they willing to turn to self mutilation to look good?"

So we can accessorize and wear cute ear rings with different clothing.
Why holes instead of clip on's? It looks better , especially when wearing studs
It's no different than putting on makeu-up or tweezing your eyebrows. Actually i think tweezing is more painful than the piercing

It is more of a social thing.
People have been doing it for hundreds of years. It doesnt bother me either way if a girl has her ears pierced or not. I find it can be sexy either way. And a girl who doesn't care about societies standards, well, all the better.

Who says you have to get it? Why do you need to understand if it's something you'll never do? I have my ears, nose, eyebrow and navel pierced. I like to decorate my body. I like the way my nose stud catches the light and twinkles. I love fiddling with my eyebrow ring when I'm concentrating, it's like a stress reliever almost. Different horses for different courses and all that.....

Its not the ears that I am concerned about. Its all the other body parts that they like to mistreat. How can you put a hole in your tongue?????? and other parts that I can't even mention here?????

i dont know. i have my ears pierced...its fun to put nice earrings in when i dress up.
but i got them pierced when i was about 3 months old. so i dont remember it. but i probbaly wouldnt get them pierced now. just cuz id be scared of the pierce gun.

It is called a piercing. We do it for a few reasons. Mine was to be rebelious. Others do it to look pretty.
