I cannot understand how so many people are misinformed! First off, get it straight that 9/11 was not motivated by religion. That was just an excuse. It is also wonderful for the Bush administration to have Americans believe that it was due to religion. It has to do with power and the abuse of power. What about the inquisition? Committed by the Christians, torture and murder systematically destroyed the Muslims and Jews after 1492 in Spain. That was supposed to have been a religious cleansing, but it was perpetrated in order to secure the newly gotten power in Spain.
There would alway be hatred. We are conditioned from birth to hate the "other". At this point in time the "other" is the Muslim in whose country there is oil or poppies for making drugs.
There is a lot more to be said. For instance,There is so much evidence to support the possibility that the Bush andministration allowed 9/11 to occur, worsened the effects by adding extra explosives to the targets, or perpetrated the attack. Greed and powermongering, not religion

There might not have been 9/11 if there was no religion, but there also would not have been the Enlightenment, the Reformation, and many other important historical events. I'm not saying it was a fair trade in any way, but, without religion, most of the good that has been done in the world wouldn't have been done. 9/11 was perpetuated by worshipers of Evil; most religions do not glorify murdering innocent civilians.

No. It is not it's moral corruption, hatred , and injustice. I don't appreciate for the fact that Tyler S said that Islam is an evil religion, sure there are extremist but it's because of the Wahhabi Movement. Other muslims are kind in ways. They did not convert jews or christians into islam because they believe that we are the " people of the book".

Without religion, there would have still been Stalin. Hitler was not an atheist, but the motivation for his crimes was not primarily religious, but racist. These two are the worst criminals I can think of. So no, religion is not the root of all evil, and I say that although I don't believe in any religion.

Why does evil need a root? It just is - whatever it is. Is it evil when a lion eats an antelope? When deer starve in the winter? When hunters kill deer before they starve? Everything is relative. I'm sure King George thought our revolution was evil and our founding fathers were the terrorists of their day. One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter. Religion is just one way of putting the existence of adverse events into our own cultural perspective.

no, that would be GREED that is the route of all evil.
some times people get involved in religion because of greed.
Religion, for the most part, is good even though as a Christian I don't like religion. I do see the good in many religions. Most of them teach a way of life that makes its followers good people to share the planet with.

Religion doesn't make people argue over everything. Lies make people argue over everything. There's only one true religion out there. I'm not saying what it is, but there has to be one true one. If there was no religion, there would be more chaos. Mankind would have no answeres for their existence.

The love of money is the root of all evil . . . according to the Bible. I'm not religious, making a point.
