Depends on your cycle length. If you have a normal 28 day cycle, then you should ovulate around 14 days after the first day of your period. Most people are usually fertile for about three days give or take. That would be a day or two before you ovulate and the day of ovulation . Sperm can live in body for 3-5 days though, so if your trying to get pregnant having sex a few days before ovulation and the day of, can raise your chances. If your trying to prevent pregnancy, use protect or sustain from sex on these days.

Usually 10-14 days after your period has ended. It just depends on how regular ur monthly timing is also. If trying to become preggy, buy some ovulaion test strips and keep track of the results for a couple of months. And if your still not preggy by the end of trying this talk to your doctor about it.
